Mother of Missing Savannah Guthrie Accuses Family Friend of Kidnapping

Nancy Guthrie, 84 years old and living alone in her suburban home, has vanished without a trace since February 1, 2026. The abduction of this revered community figure set off an alarming wave of online speculation, with many falsely accusing the local fifth-grade teacher, Dominic Evans, of involvement. Evans had only met Nancy decades ago when she was visiting Tommaso Cioni, her son-in-law and brother-in-law to Savannah Guthrie, who hosts “Today.”

In a startling interview with the New York Times last week, Evans detailed how his life became mired in a media frenzy after FBI surveillance footage surfaced. The images revealed a masked figure outside Nancy’s home, generating unverified rumors that linked Evans to the abduction.

While Evan’s bandmate Tommaso Cioni denied any involvement, suspicion fell heavily on Evans due to his acquaintance with him and their shared musical connection. Yet, Evans insisted he had only played music in Cioni’s band for two years, and any allegations were baseless.

In a subsequent interview, Evans revealed the emotional toll of this ordeal. He described feeling “trapped” as relentless speculation about his involvement persisted. His wife Andrea echoed these feelings, recalling how fearful they became when crowds gathered outside their home days after police and FBI conducted an extensive search operation in Tucson.

Andrea expressed concern for her family’s safety, recounting the terrifying experience of keeping windows tightly shut at night to avoid drawing attention from curious passersby. The situation escalated dramatically as Evans’ name was frequently linked to the surveillance footage, even by those who were not initially involved in the investigation.

Evans and his wife are now living under duress, constantly threatened with media coverage and public speculation that refuses to dissipate despite the fact that Nancy Guthrie remains missing and unaccounted for. Their ordeal serves as a stark reminder of how one’s personal life can become entangled in sensationalist stories, potentially impacting not only their lives but also those of innocent friends and family members they had never met before this bizarre incident.
