Mufti Tariq Masood Denies Reports of Gunfire, Declares Himself Safe

Renowned religious scholar Mufti Tariq Masood has firmly denied circulating reports of an attack on him in Karachi’s Malir area, clarifying that he is unharmed and safe.

“Rumours of an attack on me have been circulating. By the grace of God, I am absolutely fine,” Mufti Masood shared in a Facebook post on Thursday. “There is no truth to such reports.”

Earlier, social media was abuzz with claims of gunfire targeting Mufti Masood’s vehicle near Ghaghar Phatak in the Malir area. These reports alleged that shots were fired at his car, resulting in the death of his driver and serious injuries to Masood. However, these claims were quickly dismissed by the scholar and his supporters as baseless.

Skepticism about the reports grew online, with several users asserting that the vehicle in question did not belong to Masood. One user labeled the news as “fake,” while another stated, “Alhamdulillah, Mufti Sahib is safe,” dismissing the claims as unfounded.

In response to the spread of false information regarding attacks on scholars in Karachi, authorities have taken action to address the issue. The police, in coordination with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), plan to target those responsible for spreading these misleading rumours. Over the past two days, fabricated images and reports of gunfire aimed at scholars’ vehicles have been circulating on social media, creating unnecessary panic in the Malir area.
