Murad Ali Shah, the candidate of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has secured the position of Sindh’s 25th Chief Minister. The announcement, initially reported by Headline PK, came following a session presided over by Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Awais Shah.

PPP’s Murad Ali Shah attained a commanding two-thirds majority, garnering 112 votes, while the candidate from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, Ali Khurshidi, received 36 votes amidst a boycott by the PTI and the JI.

The nomination papers on behalf of Murad Ali Shah were earlier submitted by Ghulam Qadir Chandio, Saleh Shah, and Naeem Kharal, setting the stage for the subsequent victory.

In related proceedings, the assembly had previously elected PPP’s Syed Awais Qadir Shah and Anthony Naveed as the new speaker and deputy speaker, respectively, with the majority of lawmakers voting in favor of their appointments.

The Pakistan People’s Party’s dominance in the Sindh Assembly, with 112 members, underscores its stronghold in the region’s political landscape.
