Muslim worshipers thronged the courtyards surrounding Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Wednesday, marking the first day of Eidul Azha holiday. This year’s Eidul Azha, one of the most significant holidays in Islam, coincides with ongoing Israeli violations of a ceasefire agreement since October 2025.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, over 880 people have been killed and more than 2,645 injured due to Israeli attacks since the ceasefire was announced on October 10. The war has claimed over 72,000 lives, mostly women and children, and injured over 172,000 since October 2023.
In southern Lebanon, Eidul Azha is overshadowed by displacement and uncertainty. Many residents have been displaced multiple times due to Israeli attacks, leading to a loss of familiar traditions and deep psychological scars on families and children.
Despite the holiday season, many families remain reluctant to return home due to fear of worsening security conditions. Around 110 families still reside in Shebaa despite difficult circumstances, highlighting an unprecedented social emptiness across border villages.
Since March 2, Israel has been conducting an expanded offensive on Lebanon, resulting in nearly 3,200 deaths, over 9,600 injuries, and displacing more than 1.6 million people, according to official figures.
