Nancy Guthrie was 84 and reportedly suffering from a heart condition when she was taken away from her home on Feb. 1. Former FBI special agent Jody Weis, in an interview on The National News Desk, described the situation as grim, saying “You think about that 84-year-old woman with a heart condition ripped out of her house in the middle of the night.” Nothing good happened after that incident for someone in that condition.
Weis also pointed out issues during the investigation. All negotiations seem to be going through TMZ, which is unusual according to Weis. He has been involved in every case and communication is usually set up with the family or law enforcement directly. Sheriff Chris Nanos, leading the investigation, has publicly called a new ransom note not genuine.
Weis said whoever sent the note did not provide enough evidence to consider it authentic. If they have all this great information on their phone, he suggested giving some of that to convince the family it’s real. The investigation is ongoing as her family pleads for her release.
