
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi departed for Tehran carrying an important message from Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei. The message, conveyed during a visit amid renewed diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington, was discussed with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
Naqvi expressed hope that regional crises could be resolved through diplomacy. He arrived in Tehran to deliver the message concerning current regional developments from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir. The two ministers also discussed border security, counterterrorism cooperation, efforts to combat drug trafficking, and bilateral economic ties.
Momeni thanked Pakistan for its active role in easing tensions between Iran and the US. He added that Tehran and Islamabad agreed to pursue a plan to increase annual trade from $3 billion to $10 billion. Naqvi is also expected to meet several senior Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
