National Assembly Session to Convene In Late February

The inaugural session of the newly elected National Assembly is scheduled to take place in the last week of February, according to sources.

Sources indicated that notifications for the newly elected NA members will be issued and completed by February 20. Following this, the allocation of reserved seats will be determined within three days.

The NA session must be convened within 21 days after the election, with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs submitting the summary. The President will summon the NA session based on the prime minister’s advice.

During the inaugural session, Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf will preside over proceedings as newly elected members take their oath of office. Additionally, the speaker and deputy speaker’s office schedules will be released on the session’s first day.

Subsequently, after the election of the speaker and deputy speaker, the schedule for electing the Leader of the House will be announced. The election of the speaker and deputy speaker will be conducted via secret ballot, while the house leader will be elected by division.
