In an address during a PML-N parliamentary board meeting, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed his frustration, highlighting that he has spent more time in exile than in office due to the premature dismissals of his governments. Pointing fingers at those responsible for his removal in 2017, he asserted that the orchestrated legal cases against him were aimed at facilitating a “selected government.”
Calling for accountability, Nawaz emphasized the need to punish individuals acting against the Constitution, claiming that his ousting was not only a violation of the law but also a subversion of the constitutional order. He vehemently defended his commitment to the Constitution and law, asserting that those who believed in these principles were targeted to fulfill hidden agendas.
Recalling his dismissal in 1999, Nawaz questioned the absurdity of being declared a hijacker after serving as the prime minister in the morning. He criticized the PTI government, installed after the 2018 elections, for failing to construct even a single section of the motorway from Sukkur to Hyderabad.
Highlighting the achievements of his government, Nawaz lamented the loss of momentum in poverty reduction efforts and the reversal of positive trends. He underscored that during his tenure, loans from China were repaid, and progress was evident until the change in leadership.
Nawaz also addressed the issue of fabricated cases, asserting that he and his associates were falsely implicated in baseless charges, including the bizarre case of cattle theft. Despite facing such accusations, he pointed out that the judiciary had dismissed these cases, highlighting the lack of credibility in the allegations against him and his party members.
