The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced an increase in electricity prices by Rs 10.1022 per unit for Karachi residents.
The hike, attributed to the fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for the period from July 2023 to March 2024, will be recovered from K-Electric (KE) consumers over four months, from July to September 2024.
According to the official notification, KE will implement the following charges:
- Rs 2.6761 per kilowatt hour (kWh) in June 2024
- Rs 3.1057 per unit in July
- Rs 3.2242 per unit in August
- Rs 0.9980 per unit in September 2024
This tariff increase will affect all consumer categories except for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and lifeline consumers. The adjustment will appear separately on consumers’ bills, based on the units billed during the corresponding months.
KE is required to reflect the fuel charges adjustment in the billing month according to the specified schedule and adhere to court orders while implementing these adjustments.
