Karachi’s electricity consumers will see a Rs3.0362 per unit increase in their December bills after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) allowed K-Electric to impose a fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for July 2024.

The FCA, amounting to Rs6.105 billion, applies to all consumer categories except lifeline, prepaid, and electric vehicle charging stations.

Nepra’s decision followed a review of K-Electric’s July 2024 fuel costs, which rose sharply compared to March 2023. K-Electric’s power generation and purchases totaled Rs38.267 billion for July, up from Rs23.638 billion in March 2023, with a notable increase in electricity generation from 520GWh to 1,076GWh.
