Actress Nicole Kidman shared her Oscar-winning moment in 2003 as a defining turning point in her career and personal life. For her role as Virginia Woolf in *The Hours*, she became the first Australian woman to win Best Actress at the 76th Academy Awards, marking a historic milestone.

The actress, now 58, reflected on how the win coincided with a surge of major projects, including *Moulin Rouge!* (2001), *The Others* (2001), and *The Hours* (2002). Speaking at the 2026 Oscars, she described the experience as both exhilarating and overwhelming.

Kidman’s 2003 triumph came amid a period of personal upheaval, including her recent divorce from musician Keith Urban after nearly two decades of marriage. In a 2014 interview with *Vanity Fair*, she revealed that the win occurred during one of her most isolating moments, describing it as the loneliest period of her life.

She later admitted that her career highs often aligned with personal lows—a dynamic that has shaped her perspective. Kidman noted, *”The greatest highs have coincided with the greatest lows,”* adding, *”That’s always aggravated me that it’s gone that way.”*
