Norway to Conduct Rare External Probe into Foreign Ministry and Epstein Connections

A shocking new chapter in Norway’s political scandal has emerged, as police investigations into high-profile figures have brought to light startling connections to the notorious Jeffrey Epstein. The latest revelations underscore the depths of corruption and ties that politicians have with this infamous figure, exposing a web of international intrigue that threatens to engulf officials.

The probe began after police opened an investigation into former Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland, who is suspected of aggravated corruption involving contacts with Epstein’s associates. The case has since expanded to include Mona Juul, the ex-ambassador whose husband, Terje Roed-Larsen, a former cabinet minister, faces accusations of complicity in Epstein’s network.

Both Jagland and Roed-Larsen have vehemently denied any wrongdoing, but their actions do not seem to deter public demands for transparency. The release of new files in the US has brought fresh revelations about these politicians’ close relationships with Epstein. For instance, emails show that Jagland attempted to secure funds from Epstein’s private island at Palm Beach and the Caribbean.

Jagland initially maintained his innocence, but in one email from 2014, he sought Epstein’s help for financing an apartment in Oslo. A later message indicated that Epstein offered insights into Russian politics, urging Jagland to connect with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Despite these exchanges, Jagland maintains his innocence.

The files also include plans made by the Jaglands’ children and their nanny to visit Epstein’s private island in 2014, although whether this trip took place remains unclear. In another email from 2018, Epstein suggested negotiating for a new apartment in Oslo, which later became the subject of police investigation.

Juul has been criticized publicly since her resignation as ambassador. She recently apologized to King Harald and Queen Sonja over her friendship with Epstein between 2011 and 2014—long after his conviction—and this apology did little to soothe public anger.

Police actions have not quelled public demand for a full public inquiry, revealing that the skeletons in Norwegian politics are numerous. The latest revelations underscore how even officials expected to be clean can harbor significant ties to Epstein’s world of international intrigue and corruption.

In light of these revelations, the spotlight has fallen on Norway’s political landscape, challenging its reputation as an incorruptible nation. The case against Jagland, Juul, and Roed-Larsen is set to continue, with new evidence potentially undermining their claims of innocence.
