Nvidia Confirms Massive $100B Investment in ChatGPT Despite Rumors of Disputes

Amidst conflicting rumors about Nvidia and ChatGPT, Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang dismissed all allegations that he was unhappy with OpenAI. Instead, he announced a significant investment for OpenAI—a figure probably larger than the original $100 billion plan disclosed in September. This move comes after some skepticism within Nvidia over the deal stalled.

Huang maintained his commitment, stating, “We are going to make a huge investment in OpenAI.” He emphasized that this would be the largest investment Nvidia has made to date and praised Altman’s leadership, describing OpenAI as one of the most consequential companies. Huang added that Amazon is also considering investing billions into OpenAI.

The report indicates that it was up to Altman to determine how much funding he needs, with the potential figure rising to $50 billion. Reuters previously reported OpenAI aiming for a $100 billion fundraising round, valuing it at around $830 billion.

Huang hosted a “trillion-dollar dinner,” featuring all of Nvidia’s key suppliers in Taiwan, including TSMC, during which he discussed future investment plans with two leading tech firms. He confirmed the original $100 billion deal was non-binding and not finalized, citing concerns about OpenAI’s business discipline and competitive challenges from rivals like Google and Anthropic.
