Italian model Vittoria Ceretti took to Instagram after her monumental moment at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics opening ceremony. As she stood with the Italian flag draped around her shoulders, Ceretti’s emotions were on full display as she reveled in an experience that surpassed all her expectations and dreams.

Ceretti, who is engaged to Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, spoke directly to her followers about the profound significance of carrying Italy’s national emblem at such a prestigious event. “This has been the greatest honor of my life,” she said. “I can still hardly believe I had the privilege of representing our country in this way.”

Before stepping into the spotlight, Ceretti acknowledged that there was much more to her responsibility than just representing an individual: “Within those folds of fabric live history, values and beauty beyond description, all tied to the land we call home,” she added. “Never did I think my greatest passion would be displayed in front of 80,000 people—thank you for trusting me with this incredible opportunity.”

Ceretti’s heartfelt message highlighted not just her personal joy but also the pride Italy feels at hosting such an event, one that has set a new attendance record. More than 61,000 tickets were sold for the ceremony, held in Milan’s iconic San Siro stadium. An additional 10,000 spectators enjoyed the spectacle from various locations throughout northern Italy.

Among the performers that night was pop icon Mariah Carey, who inaugurated the show with a blend of traditional and modern flair. However, unlike many of her fellow artists on the stage, Mariah did not receive compensation for her participation in the opening ceremony. Her appearance marked the beginning of what would be an extraordinary Olympics filled with beauty and history.

As Ceretti expressed gratitude to all those who participated, including local organizers and artists like Mariah Carey, she left the audience with a poignant hope: “I hope I made you proud. Italy.”

This unforgettable moment at Milano Cortina Winter Olympics encapsulates not only the spirit of Vittoria Ceretti but also highlights what it means to carry one’s country’s flag with honor—especially in front of such an overwhelming crowd.
