Opposition Calls for Independent Foreign Policy in Gaza Crisis

A national conference organized by the opposition Tehreek Tahaffuz Ain Pakistan (TTAP) and Haqooq-e-Khalq Party urged Pakistan to adopt a clear, independent stance on global conflicts, particularly Gaza. The event took place at the Lahore High Court and was attended by prominent figures including Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, former Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair, Senator Mushtaq Ahmed, and Haqooq-e-Khalq Party leader Ammar Ali Jan.

The conference issued a joint communique demanding Pakistan’s immediate withdrawal from the US-backed “Board of Peace” on Gaza. It called for the government to actively support Palestinian rights, engage parliament, political parties, and civil society in a national debate regarding Palestine’s situation, especially within the context of American imperialism under President Donald Trump.

The statement also urged support for a Global South bloc comprising countries from Asia, Africa, and Latin America to lead the struggle for freedom and justice. The conference rejected alignment with any single global power, condemned threats against Iran and the United States, and expressed solidarity with Venezuela, Cuba, Colombia, and other nations in Latin America and Africa.

Rejecting regional destabilization policies linked to a US strategy to encircle China, the statement warned that such actions would undermine peace. It called for a genuinely non-aligned foreign policy rooted in regional cooperation and rejecting Western influence, aligning with the aspirations of oppressed peoples worldwide.

Senator Mushtaq delivered a scathing critique, criticizing global powers, Pakistan’s political elite, and their hypocritical stance on peace.
