ISLAMABAD (APP) – More than 300 students completed specialized training under Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Overseas Employment Programme of the National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), marking a significant milestone in expanding job opportunities for Pakistani youth. The ceremony, held in Islamabad, celebrated the recent achievements and emphasized the crucial role of these young professionals in enhancing Pakistan’s global image.
Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, delivered an inspiring address at the event, urging overseas employment promoters to collaborate more closely with the government to foster robust job prospects for Pakistani youth. “With discipline, skill, and professionalism,” he said, “you will secure your own future and help brighten Pakistan’s positive image globally.”
Executives from NAVTTC highlighted that this was the second batch sent abroad, comprising over 300 skilled individuals. Future programs would be even more refined to meet market demands effectively, Executive Director Aamir Jan announced. The panel also acknowledged ongoing challenges for Pakistani workers overseas, noting they continue to serve as a cornerstone of national remittances.
NAVTTC Chairperson Gulmina Bilal emphasized the program’s transformation over recent years, stating that it no longer confines itself merely to regulation and training. Success now hinges on whether the trained graduates secure employment opportunities abroad. She stressed the need for participants to embody Pakistan’s cultural ethos and values, as their behavior will influence future demand for Pakistani workers.
Chairperson Bilal also revealed that the Prime Minister had set a goal of placing 10,000 Pakistani youth in overseas jobs under this initiative. NAVTTC has already commenced training for over 5,000 candidates within the program framework. Acknowledging initial challenges due to novelty, regular monitoring and third-party evaluations ensure high-quality training standards.
As policymakers, training officials, and graduating students witnessed this momentous event, they emphasized the collective importance of ensuring these young professionals’ efforts translate into successful placements abroad.
