Over 38,000 Pakistanis Were Deported from Gulf Countries in 2025, Highlighting Legal Breaches

In a detailed report presented during an official briefing by the National Assembly, more than 38,000 Pakistani nationals were deported from Gulf countries last year. Saudi Arabia topped the list with over 27,692 deportations.

The figures underscore Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to ensure its citizens comply with host country laws and regulations. This issue has garnered significant attention in parliament, where lawmakers expressed concern about the impact on national reputation and personal safety of expatriates who violate rules abroad.

According to the report, the majority—38,000 plus—of these deportations occurred for various legal violations such as begging, drug-related offenses, or theft. Professional beggars account for a notable portion of those sent back, particularly from Saudi Arabia, where 767 individuals were deported specifically due to this offense.

Lawmakers noted that while illegal migration and unlawful activities harm both the individual and national image, steps are being taken to prevent such incidents. They stressed that stricter measures must be implemented before citizens depart to ensure they do not end up in compromising situations abroad.

This situation has led members of parliament to advocate for enhanced screening mechanisms and more comprehensive awareness campaigns among citizens who seek overseas employment. The government reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with Gulf authorities to address these issues while protecting the nation’s reputation abroad.

The issue serves as a reminder that while seeking economic opportunities globally is crucial for many families, it must be approached responsibly to avoid detrimental repercussions both domestically and internationally.
