Pakistan Calls Gaza Displacement and Take Over Proposal ‘Deeply Troubling’

Pakistan has strongly opposed the proposed displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, calling it deeply troubling and unjust.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan, in a statement on Thursday, stressed that Palestinian land belongs to its people and reaffirmed that a two-state solution, as outlined in UN Security Council resolutions, remains the only just and viable option.

“Pakistan has been and will continue to stand by the people of Palestine in their just struggle for self-determination, as well as for the establishment of a sovereign, independent, and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital,” he said.

He warned that any efforts to forcibly remove Palestinians or expand illegal settlements violate international law and threaten regional peace and security.

Ambassador Khan reiterated Pakistan’s demand for the return of all displaced Palestinians, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories, increased humanitarian aid, and urgent global efforts for Gaza’s reconstruction.

The statement came after former U.S. President Donald Trump made a surprise announcement on Tuesday, saying the U.S. would take control of Gaza after Palestinians are resettled elsewhere and develop the war-ravaged territory economically. He was speaking at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
