Pakistani Government Plans New Convention Center in Islamabad
The federal government has decided to construct a new convention center in Islamabad, adhering to international standards. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inspected the proposed site near Bhara Kahu Bypass on Murree Road and ordered the removal of all illegal encroachments.
Minister Naqvi visited the location and emphasized that legal action would be taken against encroachers without any discrimination. All illegal constructions will be demolished, with no compensation or leniency offered to the occupants. Ensuring international-standard facilities in Islamabad is a key government priority.
The minister stated that this project would facilitate hosting major international conferences, such as the SCO Summit, and positively enhance Pakistan’s image abroad. The visit was attended by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Mehmood, and other senior officials.
