
Pakistan Railways has concluded its inquiry into the Khanewal bridge collapse incident. The investigation found negligence on the part of two officials, leading to their dismissal from service.
The bridge collapse resulted in one fatality and several injuries. Following the incident, the federal minister for railways had announced strict action against those responsible.
A comprehensive inquiry was launched at the request of the railway minister. The investigation report determined that the concerned officials were negligent, resulting in disciplinary proceedings.
The railway minister reiterated his zero-tolerance policy regarding public safety, stating no leniency would be shown in cases involving loss of life. Officials said the accountability process would continue and that negligence and incompetence would not be tolerated within the department.
