Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Russian, Tajik, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, and Kazakhstani ministers at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Bishkek. They signed agreements to boost cooperation on illegal immigration prevention, repatriation of citizens residing illegally, narcotics control, and counterterrorism efforts.

In a separate meeting with Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda, discussions centered around terrorist camps operating inside Afghanistan and the production of narcotics, both posing serious security concerns for the region.

Naqvi also met Uzbekistan’s Interior Minister Major General Aziz Tashpulatov to discuss cooperation between law enforcement agencies and joint training programs. The two officials agreed to establish a working group to strengthen cooperation.

Kyrgyz Interior Minister Niyazbek Olan Omokanov congratulated Naqvi on the election of Kyrgyzstan as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. They also decided to enhance bilateral cooperation in illegal immigration prevention and narcotics control, agreeing to form a joint working group between their ministries.

These meetings underscored the shared commitment among regional partners to strengthen collaboration on security, migration management, and efforts to combat drug-related crime.
