U.S. Military Shoots Down Iranian Drones Near Strait of Hormuz

On Friday, the U.S. military announced that it had shot down four Iranian drones launched towards the Strait of Hormuz. The same operation also resulted in strikes on “Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites” located on Qeshm Island and Goruk.

Meanwhile, Kuwait reported its air defenses were intercepting missile and drone attacks from Iran. The country’s military stated that explosions heard were a result of aerial interceptions.

Iran’s navy claimed it had fired “warning shots” at U.S. forces in the Gulf of Oman, but the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) denied this report.

The incident occurred on Friday, despite the ongoing ceasefire between the two nations. Both countries are working through intermediaries to find an end to the conflict that began on February 28.

In a recent interview with NBC’s Meet the Press, President Trump was asked about the situation and compared Iran’s war to the Vietnam War, which lasted upwards of 19 years. He stated he is not in a rush to finalize a deal with Iran as long as it meets U.S. national interest standards.

Iranians Claim Warning Shots Fired at American Ships

Iranian officials reported that warning shots were fired by U.S. forces at some American Navy ships earlier today, and explosions occurred at the port of Sirik in Hormozgan – located on the Strait of Hormuz.

This is the latest development from Iran following a series of recent skirmishes with the U.S., as both sides accuse each other of violating the ceasefire agreement.

The Strait of Hormuz remains the focal point of this ongoing conflict, where American forces aim for Iran to withdraw and allow free navigation. However, Iranians insist on maintaining control over the strategic waterway in their confrontation with the Americans and Israelis.
