Pakistan has made history by securing permanent membership in the Washington Accord for six years.

The International Engineering Alliance (IEA) approved this extension during a two-day session held in New Delhi.

Despite not being able to attend in person due to India’s rejection of visas and NOCs for the Pakistani delegation, the IEA unanimously approved Pakistan’s membership. The rejection aimed to disrupt Pakistan’s lobbying efforts. However, China, Turkey, and Hong Kong supported Pakistan during the session, which Pakistani Engineering Council (PEC) officials attended online.

PEC Chairman Najeeb Haroon congratulated Pakistani engineers on this milestone, stating that Pakistan’s engineering education has now gained international recognition.
