The media briefing for the multinational maritime exercise AMAN-25 was held in Karachi, where Commander Pakistan Fleet (COMPAK), Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, outlined details of the upcoming drills and the inaugural AMAN Dialogue.

The joint naval exercise will take place from February 7 to 11, bringing together over 60 nations to strengthen global maritime security cooperation.

Addressing the media, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib emphasized that as global priorities shift from geopolitics to geo-economics, safeguarding international trade and energy routes has become increasingly crucial. The Indian Ocean Region faces diverse security challenges, ranging from traditional threats to emerging non-traditional risks, making regional and global collaboration essential.

Recognizing that no single nation can tackle maritime threats alone, Pakistan launched the AMAN exercise in 2007 under the theme “Together for Peace.” The biennial exercise fosters cooperation among maritime nations, promotes safe naval procedures, and enhances collective strategies to counter piracy, terrorism, and other maritime challenges.

The ninth edition of AMAN will include two phases: the Harbour Phase (Feb 7–9) will feature seminars, operational discussions, professional demonstrations, international gatherings, and sports events. The Sea Phase (Feb 10–11) will include tactical drills, counter-piracy and counterterrorism operations, search-and-rescue missions, live firing exercises, and the International Fleet Review, which will be attended by foreign and national dignitaries.

This year also marks the launch of the AMAN Dialogue, a high-level forum bringing together Chiefs of Navies, Coast Guards, and Defense Forces from participating nations. The dialogue will provide a platform for discussions on global and regional maritime security, fostering innovative solutions to emerging challenges.

Rear Admiral Abdul Munib highlighted that the growing international participation in AMAN-25 reflects global confidence in Pakistan Navy’s leadership in maritime security. The exercise is expected to enhance Pakistan’s role as a key maritime player, ensuring the safety of vital sea trade routes while contributing to regional stability and global peace.
