On Sunday, January 25, 2026, Pakistan’s Under-19 cricket team participated in a training session at Takashinga Cricket Club in Harare. The session was led by head coach Shahid Anwar and featured players from the team under scenario-based match practices where batters and bowlers were assigned different targets.
Pakistan will continue their training schedule at the same venue on Monday, before commencing their Super Six campaign with an opening fixture against New Zealand at Harare Sports Club on Tuesday, January 27. Their second and final contest in the Super Six stage will take place at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Sunday, February 1.
The Pakistani U19 team finished as runners-up in Group ‘C’ after defeating Scotland (by six wickets) and Zimbabwe (by eight wickets). They lost to England by a margin of 37 runs. England topped the group with three wins, while Zimbabwe came third but also qualified for the Super Six stage.
Current fielding coach Mansoor Amjad discussed their strong showing in fielding: “Our fielding standards have been very encouraging. The number of catches taken and the ability to save valuable runs reflect significant improvements by our players. Before the start of the World Cup, we collectively decided to build a strong fielding culture based on fearlessness and complete focus.”
Amjad continued, “The players are naturally skilled but also eager to improve; they regularly discuss areas needing development and respond positively to feedback, which has translated into improved performances on the field.”
Mansoor Amjad highlighted some standout performances: Ahmed Hussain, Farhan Yousaf, Usman Khan, Hamza Zahoor (as wicketkeeper), and Sameer Minhas have all been exceptional.
