Pakistan, UAE signs MoU to promote Jiu-Jitsu for youth in Sindh

The Consul General of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Karachi, Bakheet Ateeq Al-Remaithi, and the Governor of Sindh, Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce Jiu-Jitsu to the youth of Sindh.

The ceremony took place at the Governor House. Under the agreement, both the UAE and the Pakistani government will collaborate to promote Jiu-Jitsu, with plans to launch training programs for young people in Sindh. The initiative will also include the organization of the Inter-School Jiu-Jitsu Championship and the Jiu-Jitsu Olympics in 2025, with participation from students at the school and college level.

The Consul General Bakheet Ateeq Al-Remaithi highlighted the popularity of Jiu-Jitsu in the UAE and expressed the intention to introduce similar training programs in Sindh. “We are here to introduce Jiu-Jitsu training programs for the youth of Sindh. This sport is incredibly popular in the UAE, and we are organizing this tournament in celebration of the UAE National Day. Students from schools and colleges will also take part,” he said.

He further emphasized the strong, brotherly relationship between Pakistan and the UAE, stating that the UAE government continues to support Pakistan’s economic stability through various cooperative efforts. “This partnership will help introduce a new sport to the youth of Sindh, fostering both physical fitness and mental development,” he added. Governor Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori also praised the initiative, calling it a symbol of growing cooperation between the two countries in the field of sports.

He expressed hope that the introduction of Jiu-Jitsu would not only provide new opportunities for youth in Pakistan but also strengthen cultural ties between the two nations.

The agreement marks a new chapter in sports cooperation between the UAE and Pakistan, offering not only recreational opportunities for young people but also the potential for long-term cultural and sporting exchanges.
