Pakistani Army Cadet Sardar Arsam Abbas Named ‘Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet’ in Australia
The Australian Royal Military College (RMC), Duntroon has declared Pakistani Army Cadet Sardar Arsam Abbas as the “Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet” at their passing out parade on May 5, 2026.
This accolade is given to the highest performing foreign military cadet across all aspects of training. It reflects the professionalism, commitment and excellence demonstrated by the junior leadership of the Pakistan Army.
The commissioning parade was reviewed by Australian Chief of Army Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, AO DSC. The event was attended by members of the diplomatic corps including Pakistani High Commissioner in Canberra, families of graduating cadets and Australian Defence Force officials.
Pakistan and Australia have a long-standing military relationship. Since 2013, seven officers from Pakistan’s Army have served as platoon commanders at RMC while 46 Pakistani Army cadets graduated from this prestigious institution since 2009.
This marks the 14th time that a Pakistani Army Cadet has been declared the Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet, including Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid Selhria Shaheed who was posthumously awarded Tamgha-e-Basalat and embraced martyrdom in North Waziristan District on September 4, 2020.
Lieutenant Nasir’s name is inscribed on the memorial stone at RMC parade ground, symbolising the enduring legacy of courage, sacrifice, and honour of brave Pakistani Army Officers.
