Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding mutually beneficial trade with the European Union (EU), particularly focusing on the Generalized Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) scheme. During a meeting with EU Ambassador Raimundas Karoblis, who visited Islamabad, the prime minister highlighted further strengthening cooperation across key areas such as trade, investment, development, security, migration, and climate change.
He underscored the GSP+ initiative’s pivotal role in bolstering Pakistan-EU trade ties and expressed satisfaction over the seventh round of the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue held in Brussels last November. The Pakistani delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar participated in this dialogue.
Ambassador Karoblis welcomed the prime minister warmly upon his arrival in Pakistan, conveying greetings from EU leaders. He reaffirmed continued efforts to deepen bilateral relations across all sectors and assured engagement to enhance trade under GSP+ through various initiatives, including the inaugural EU-Pakistan Business Forum scheduled for April.
