The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, led the country’s delegation to an open-ended Extraordinary Ministerial Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Executive Committee. The meeting addressed illegal Israeli actions aimed at bolstering settlement and annexation policies in the Occupied West Bank, with attempts to impose Israeli sovereignty over this region.

Senator Dar condemned these latest acts by Israel as illegal measures converting areas of the occupied West Bank into purported state property. He highlighted Pakistan’s efforts, as a UN Security Council elected member along with the Group of Eight Arab and Islamic countries and Board of Peace, in advancing the Palestinian cause.

In light of the gravity of the situation, he urged the OIC to collectively work towards ensuring an immediate reversal of all Israeli measures aimed at de facto annexation of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. He also called for full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803, including strict adherence to the ceasefire in Gaza, and encouraged immediate commencement of reconstruction efforts in Gaza with full Palestinian ownership and a central role for the Palestinian Authority.

Senator Dar underscored that such measures must align with relevant UN resolutions, particularly regarding Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital. He also emphasized a time-bound political horizon leading to the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine based on the 1967 borders.

In addition to condemning Israeli actions, Senator Dar engaged in bilateral discussions on the sidelines with Foreign Ministers from Bangladesh, Maldives, and Palestine, as well as with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey and the Somali State Minister for Foreign Affairs. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.

This session underscores Pakistan’s strong stance against Israeli expansionist policies while maintaining its unwavering support for Middle Eastern peace and regional stability.
