PM Shehbaz Hails Record $3.1 Billion Remittances in December 2024

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation on achieving a record increase in remittances, with $3.1 billion received in December 2024—5.6% higher than November 2024. Year-on-year, remittances rose by an impressive 29.3%.

Calling it a testament to the dedication of overseas Pakistanis, the Prime Minister said, “This is a testament to the determination of Pakistani brothers and sisters to play a role in the development of the country and nation.” He added that critics who doubted the country’s economic recovery have been proven wrong.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan is now on a path of economic growth after achieving stability. “The Government of Pakistan is committed to the development of the country and the welfare of the people,” he said.

According to data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), overseas Pakistanis sent $3.07 billion in remittances during December 2024.
