Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a crucial review meeting at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad to discuss strategies for boosting food exports to Gulf states. The PM expressed satisfaction over the progress made so far in supplying essential food items to these countries and emphasized Pakistan’s responsibility to support their food security needs without compromising domestic availability.

He directed all relevant authorities to ensure close coordination and effective supply chain management, warning against any delays or non-compliance at government levels. Additionally, plans are underway to increase flight operations at key airports like Karachi and Gwadar, as well as other major international hubs.

Officials briefed the meeting on steps taken to enhance exports, including approval of 40 food items by a special committee. No additional charges will be imposed for exporting vegetables, fruits, and meat, with both air and sea routes being utilized. The PM also stressed the importance of strengthening trade ties through business-to-business meetings and webinars.

During Eid holidays, Karachi Port and Port Qasim remained fully operational. To improve transshipment capacity, off-dock terminals have been allowed to handle cargo, customs regulations amended, and transportation charges at ports reduced by up to 60 percent.
