In a daring mission that showcases the resolve of law enforcement in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district, nine terrorists, including one commander and two identified combatants—Umar Azam alias Khazmati and Shahidullah—were felled during an intense police operation.
The attack commenced with a coordinated assault on the Khuni Khel Police Post in Bannu, where approximately 40 assailants deployed heavy weaponry to seize control. The attackers enveloped the post from all sides, creating a desperate scenario for the defenders.
Deputy Inspector General Sajjad Khan and District Police Officer Yasir Afridi directed reinforcements: additional police units, Quick Response Force, and Rapid Response Teams swiftly arrived on the scene. Their timely intervention forced the militants to retreat, but not without inflicting considerable loss in life and limbs.
The death toll stood at three terrorists while nine others suffered injuries during a ferocious firefight that saw one police officer lightly wounded but recover soon after. The District Police Commissioner, Sajjad Khan, expressed his appreciation for the bravery of the law enforcement personnel involved. He highlighted the relentless commitment of Bannu’s security forces and pledged to complete their mission against any terror presence.
In separate incidents elsewhere in Dera Ismail Khan district, a sub-divisional police officer named Kulachi faced an ambush by miscreants lying in wait within forested areas adjacent to the road leading into his jurisdiction.
The Al-Barq Force, Elite Forces, and District Police mobilized swiftly; under the command of District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, Sub-Divisional Police Officers Kashif Sattar and Kulachi Aslam Khan Baloch spearheaded a search-and-destroy operation across strategic locations like Hathala, Budh, Mor, and Sahi. They uncovered multiple suspected hideouts and apprehended 13 individuals, including facilitators of the miscreants.
The investigation continues as checkpoints are established along critical routes for monitoring and further clearance operations are ongoing in the area under scrutiny. The District Police spokesperson confirmed these actions, emphasizing that all avenues will be pursued to ensure security in the region.
