A royal expert has claimed that Prince Harry has effectively become Meghan Markle’s “spare” in California.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Hilary Fordwich, a royal expert, said many who know Harry believe the Duke misses his closest friends in England. She added that as Meghan embraces Hollywood, “Harry has ‘effectively become her spare.’”
The expert noted that despite still struggling with the spotlight, making him less marketable on his own, Prince Harry’s ongoing legal battles against the media in the UK show he leans into victimhood—a stance not appealing in Hollywood.
“This isn’t a major comeback for Harry—certainly not while he leans into a victim narrative,” Fordwich continued. “The shock value from royal family revelations has faded; Harry remains trapped in the past.”
In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals but continue to use the Duke and Duchess titles. Fordwich explained that anything tied to the royals will still draw some interest, underscoring how difficult things are for them.
“Even their titles no longer seem enough to attract audiences to lackluster projects,” she said. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see Harry return, even if only for a short time each year. But any return would be personal in nature, given William’s strong opposition.”
In summary, Fordwich suggests that with his ongoing legal battles and victim narrative, Harry faces significant challenges returning to the public eye or regaining royal duties.
