Princess Anne and Duke of Gloucester attended commemorative events in France to honor soldiers who perished during one of World War I’s deadliest battles.

The British royal family shared this news on their official Instagram account, highlighting Princess Anne’s recent trip to France for these ceremonies.

Their tribute included a visit to The Thiepval Memorial, the largest Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) memorial by number of casualties commemorated.

As President and Vice-President of the CWGC and Somme Association respectively, Princess Anne and Duke of Gloucester played significant roles in these commemorations.
