PSL 11 Revised: All Matches Shifted to Lahore and Karachi

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced a revised schedule for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, aligning the tournament with national austerity and resource conservation measures introduced in consultation with the Government of Pakistan.

Under the updated plan, the number of host venues has been reduced from six to two, with all matches now set to be played in Lahore and Karachi. A total of 44 matches will be held over 39 days, with each city hosting 22 fixtures.

The opening match between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Lahore Qalandars will proceed as originally scheduled. Lahore will host Eliminator 1, Eliminator 2, and the final, while Karachi will stage the Qualifier.

The league will temporarily adopt a watch-from-home model, introducing enhanced broadcast and production features to improve the viewing experience for fans both in Pakistan and internationally. Organisers expressed confidence that the combination of strong fan engagement and upgraded coverage will make this season one of the most widely watched in the tournament’s history.

The decision to scale down venues comes as part of broader efforts to reduce pressure on national resources. Officials noted that hosting matches across six cities would have required significant logistical arrangements, including travel and energy consumption. Estimates suggested that accommodating an average of 30,000 spectators daily, along with support staff, over more than a month would place considerable strain on energy resources.

By limiting matches to two cities, the league aims to reduce operational demands, including transportation and utility overheads, while continuing to deliver high-quality cricket.

The PCB reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the standard of the tournament while aligning with national priorities, stating that the league will proceed with unity, discipline, and excellence.
