Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior figures adamantly rebuffed the ruling delivered by a special court under the Official Secrets Act, which sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to 10 years imprisonment in the cipher case.

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, a key figure within Tehreek-e-Insaf, addressed the media, urging party supporters to exercise restraint and refrain from venting their frustration.

He declared PTI’s intention to contest the verdict in court, expressing optimism that the sentencing of PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, would be overturned.

Omer Ayub Khan Dismisses Verdict on ‘Political Grounds’

PTI stalwart Omer Ayub Khan voiced his rejection of the verdict on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), alleging political motives behind the judgment.

In a statement, he implored all PTI members and Pakistani citizens to maintain peace and composure following what he labeled as a ruling by a “kangaroo court” against Prime Minister Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Omer Ayub Khan encouraged supporters to focus on the upcoming electoral process, stressing the importance of a high voter turnout. He rallied PTI members to gather on February 8, 2024, and cast their votes for PM Imran Khan’s endorsed candidates, whose names have been disseminated on PTI’s official platforms.
