ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja stated on Friday that the family of former prime minister Imran Khan would receive a copy of his medical report, following growing concerns about his health and treatment in custody. Speaking to media outside the Supreme Court, Raja affirmed this assurance after organizing a day-long sit-in by PTI leaders and workers aimed at securing access for Imran Khan’s personal doctors.
The protest was joined by several senior party figures, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas. The demonstration followed Information Minister Attaullah Tarar’s confirmation that Imran Khan had undergone a medical procedure for an eye ailment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad.
Raja questioned the official narrative, asserting reports about Imran Khan’s health were “unsatisfactory.” He alleged that the former premier had been taken to the hospital without his family’s knowledge and claimed authorities had withheld information for several days. As Raja stated, “As you know, we have been outside the Supreme Court all day.” PTI lawmakers staged another sit-in at Adiala Jail the previous night.
Raja emphasized that PTI would continue its protests to secure visitation rights and advocated for Imran Khan’s release. He added that the party’s political committee would meet later in the day to decide its next steps, following consultations with opposition leaders in both the Senate and National Assembly. Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas underscored PTI’s stance by stating that denying fundamental rights under the Constitution was oppressive.
Raja also criticized Imran Khan’s detention as unlawful. He maintained that the core issue remained the former prime minister’s incarceration, which he described as unjustified.
