Punjab Government Establishes Mediation Committees for Land Disputes

The Punjab government has formed five-member mediation committees led by Assistant Commissioners under Section 151(2) of the Punjab Land Revenue Act. These committees aim to resolve land disputes within 30 days, as announced by the Board of Revenue Punjab.

Effective since April 30, each committee comprises an Assistant Commissioner, Assistant Collector, local revenue officials (Girdawar and Numberdar), and three members nominated by disputing parties. The committees have been granted authority under Section 151(2) to resolve pending cases within the stipulated timeframe.

To ensure oversight, a monitoring cell has been established in the Board of Revenue Punjab to supervise these committees’ work.
