The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has unveiled a plan to distribute 20,000 bikes, comprising a combination of petrol and electric variants.
During a recent ceremony, the Transport Department and Punjab Bank formalized the initiative by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to streamline the program’s implementation.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz personally examined samples of both electric and petrol bikes to ensure adherence to quality standards. She directed authorities to paint the bikes in the distinctive green color associated with the Punjab government, symbolizing the province’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
In her address at the ceremony, CM Nawaz announced the allocation of 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes to students on a monthly installment basis, free of interest. Emphasizing the government’s dedication to facilitating students, she highlighted the importance of providing bikes through convenient installment plans.
Furthermore, CM Nawaz stressed the importance of gender inclusivity in the initiative, ensuring equitable distribution among male and female students. She expressed satisfaction with the balanced representation of both genders in the distribution process.
The registration process for students to avail themselves of the bikes will commence promptly, ensuring swift implementation of the program. Petrol bike installments are set at five thousand rupees per month, while electric bike installments are even more affordable, costing less than ten thousand rupees.
