
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced a major school upgrade initiative, including 25,000 new classrooms, IT labs, and improved facilities. During his visit to Multan, he inaugurated development projects at Government Aam Khas High School and reviewed ongoing education sector initiatives.
The Punjab government is accelerating the construction of new classrooms and IT laboratories in public schools under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision. Provincial Secretary Mudassar Riaz Malik accompanied the minister during the visit, where the foundation stone for additional classrooms was laid.
Rana Sikandar Hayat said that 25,000 new classrooms were being constructed across Punjab at a cost of billions of rupees. He added that upgrading school boundary walls and establishing IT laboratories remained key government priorities. The minister also announced that the per-student subsidy for learners enrolled in PEF-supported schools had been doubled.
He emphasized that increased investment in education would further improve the standard of government schools and help ensure access to quality education for every child. The Punjab government is focusing on strengthening educational infrastructure under its education-friendly policies, with officials directed to complete development projects within the stipulated timeframe.
