Punjab Government Approves New Cancer Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan
The Punjab government has approved plans for a new cancer hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan, aimed at improving healthcare facilities for patients in southern Punjab. The facility will be named the Kulsoom Nawaz Hospital after the late mother of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Officials stated that the project is expected to cost around Rs15.21 billion and will provide advanced cancer treatment services to patients in the region, reducing their need to travel to major cities for medical care. The hospital is planned to be completed between 2026 and 2029, with funding allocated in the upcoming provincial budget.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader effort to expand specialized healthcare services across the province, including several large-scale projects such as cancer treatment facilities.
