A deadly roadside bomb has claimed the life of a female passerby in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Khyber District, striking in the Karpa area near Barda. Local authorities rushed to the scene and launched an immediate investigation following the blast.
The incident comes on the heels of recent militant-linked attacks that have left significant casualties in the region. In a different part of the province earlier this week, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a motorcycle exploded near the main gate of the Miryan Police Station in Bannu district, resulting in at least two fatalities and numerous injuries.
Bannu Deputy Inspector General Sajjad Khan detailed that at least one child was among the dead. The explosion also inflicted severe damage on nearby shops and civilians. In response, police deployed a substantial contingent to secure the area while simultaneously beginning their investigation.
Rescue teams swiftly transported injured individuals from the blast site to nearby hospitals for immediate medical care. Although no policemen were harmed in Bannu, the explosion significantly damaged property near the scene, affecting local businesses and residents alike.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi issued a statement condemning the incident and offered his condolences to the deceased individuals and their families. He also denounced the attackers as enemies of peace within the province.
This tragic event underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region, prompting swift responses from both law enforcement authorities and local communities. The governor’s words highlight the gravity of these incidents and reiterate the need for continued vigilance and cooperation to mitigate such occurrences.
