Rs. 101.91 Million in Smuggled Cigarettes, Cloth Seized in Peshawar Operations

The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Peshawar has thwarted multiple smuggling attempts through intelligence-led operations carried out over the past week, resulting in the seizure of foreign-origin goods and vehicles worth Rs. 101.91 million.

According to officials, the confiscated items included 14,000 sleeves of smuggled cigarettes valued at Rs. 45 million and 7,500 kilograms of foreign-origin cloth worth Rs. 35 million. Additional contraband goods, collectively valued at Rs. 21.91 million, comprised tyres, lithium-ion batteries, betel nuts, poppy seeds, and dry yeast.

Customs authorities stated that the operations were conducted based on actionable intelligence, leading to the interception of both illicit consignments and the vehicles used to transport them.

Beyond enforcement, the Collectorate is actively monitoring smuggling patterns and sharing real-time intelligence with other field formations to strengthen coordinated efforts against the movement of non-duty-paid and contraband goods within its jurisdiction.

All seized goods and vehicles have been taken into custody under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969, and further legal proceedings are in progress.
