The Municipal Labour Union staged a protest outside the Press Club in response to the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) withholding daily wages for its employees. The union’s President, Raja Haroon Rasheed, and General Secretary, Pastor Shahid Raza, led the demonstration against the non-regularisation of these workers’ jobs.

The protest included a series of rallies planned from April 20 to May 2, with locations such as Suthra Punjab Agency, Iran Road, General Bus Stand Pirwadhai, Shehbaz Sharif Hockey Ground Union Council, Mukha Singh Estate, Children Park Committee Chowk, and Potohar Town Kotha Kalan.

Rasheed warned that if the employees’ issues are not resolved promptly, the protest could escalate. He emphasized that despite long-term service at low wages, promises of job security have not been fulfilled.
