Veteran Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan, renowned for co-writing iconic films with Javed Akhtar through their legendary Salim-Javed duo, has been admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital in critical condition. The 90-year-old was rushed to the hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage resulting from complications related to high blood pressure, which led to the formation of a clot within his brain.

Doctors confirmed that Khan underwent surgery on Tuesday and remains under ventilator support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). While his condition is critical, it has been reported that he is currently stable. The Khan family has not issued an official statement regarding his health at this time.

However, several key members of the family have been spotted visiting the hospital: Salman Khan appeared visibly concerned as he was seen leaving the facility. Arbaaz and Arpita Khan Sharma, along with their grandsons Nirvan and Arhaan, were also present. Notably, prominent figures from the film industry, including actor Sanjay Dutt, politician Zeeshan Siddique, and celebrated poet Javed Akhtar, have expressed concern for Khan’s health by visiting him at the hospital.

As one half of the influential Salim-Javed duo, Salim Khan has been responsible for crafting numerous critically acclaimed films such as Sholay, Deewar, and Zanjeer. Their work coalesced around Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic “angry young man” character, marking a significant milestone in Indian cinema.

As updates are awaited on his recovery, the hospital continues to monitor Khan closely. The future trajectory of his health will be pivotal not only for him but also for those in the film industry who look up to him as a mentor and guide.
