Sarah Khan Defends Falak Shabir on Dress Code, Sparks Mixed Reactions

Actor Sarah Khan, wife of singer Falak Shabir, defended her husband’s controversial remarks on women’s dressing through social media. Shabir had called for a law to control those who wear short dresses in public places.

The singer faced criticism from social media users accusing him of hypocrisy due to his involvement in the entertainment industry. Khan responded by defending her husband, stating that his comments were not solely aimed at women but also men. She argued that some women in Pakistan promote a distorted version of feminism.

Khan shared Instagram stories showing posters from the Aurat March with slogans like “Please leave your husband,” which she criticized without acknowledging their context related to domestic and marital abuse discussions. In another post, she supported posters advocating for women’s equality, fair wages, and opposition to child marriage, defining this as true feminism.

Despite her defense, many social media users remained unconvinced by Khan’s explanation of her husband’s remarks. Actor Alizeh Shah criticized both Shabir and Khan for hypocrisy, noting that the singer had included romantic scenes in a music video despite rejecting short dresses. Actors Mansha Pasha and Hadiqa Kiani also commented on the controversy, with Pasha questioning men policing women’s morality and Kiani supporting criticism.

Khan’s comments aimed to clarify her husband’s position but reignited discussions about gender norms, public morality, and differing interpretations of women’s rights in Pakistan.
