Saudi Arabia Strongly Responds to US Ambassador’s Controversial Remarks on Middle East Control
RIYADH (Dunya News) – Saudi Arabia has condemned remarks made by the U.S. ambassador to Israel that suggested Israeli control over the entire Middle East, including the West Bank, was acceptable.
In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it categorically denounced these comments as reckless and in direct violation of international law, the UN Charter, and established diplomatic norms. The ministry described this stance as a dangerous precedent, particularly given that such statements were coming from a U.S. official.
“We reiterate our call on the U.S. State Department to clarify its position on these remarks,” stated Saudi Arabia. “These proposals are rejected by peaceful countries around the world.”
The Kingdom emphasized its firm opposition to any actions or statements infringing upon state sovereignty, borders, and territorial integrity. Furthermore, it reaffirmed that a just and comprehensive peace could only be achieved by ending the occupation and implementing a two-state solution.
According to Saudi Arabia’s position outlined in the statement, this would involve establishing an independent Palestinian state along 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The statement concluded by reiterating the Kingdom’s firm stance against any moves that undermine global peace and security, especially those encouraging hostility toward Middle Eastern peoples and states.
In response to these controversial comments from U.S. diplomatic circles, Saudi Arabia’s reaction underscores the kingdom’s commitment to upholding international law and regional stability amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region.
