The Senate session is scheduled for today at 11:30 am in Islamabad’s Parliament House. A 54-point agenda has been issued by the Senate Secretariat, detailing various motions and proposals.

Today’s proceedings include a motion to extend the submission deadline of the committee report on serious irregularities within the Korangi Fish Harbour Authority by sixty days. Additionally, a bill for establishing Al-Biruni International University in Islamabad is expected to be introduced during the session.

There will also be discussions regarding two separate bills—establishing Danish University Islamabad and amending the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council Act. The agenda includes proposed amendments to various articles of the Constitution of Pakistan, including Articles 62, 153, and 228.

Other items on the agenda include reports from committees investigating dilapidated roads between the motorway and the Lowari Tunnel in Chitral, as well as progress updates on road construction projects in Arandu and Garam Chashma. There will also be reviews of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for fiscal year 2026-27.

Administrative challenges faced by Pakistan’s national hockey team in Australia, difficulties with visa issuance to Pakistanis from the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, and amendments to the Civil Servants Act and Service Tribunals Act will be addressed. Moreover, there will be a motion for debate on the Rs3.2 trillion circular debt issue within the gas sector.

The agenda also includes motions for review of Pakistan’s ranking at 222 out of 226 in the Global Investment Risk Index and debates on the proportion of reserved seats for minorities. Finally, the Senate Rules will be amended to carry forward unanswered questions to the next day.

This comprehensive session reflects a wide range of legislative priorities and challenges facing Pakistan’s federal government.
