In a poignant tribute months after her passing, Catherine O’Hara’s legacy continued to resonate. On January 30, 2026, the iconic star, best known for her role in Home Alone, passed away at the age of 71 due to a pulmonary embolism, as stated on her death certificate.

Celebrity luminaries paid tribute to O’Hara, including Seth Rogen, who addressed the audience during the Actors Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. The ceremony featured a posthumous award for Best Female Actor in a comedy series, which went to O’Hara for her role as Patty Leigh in Apple TV’s satirical cringe comedy series, The Studio.

The drama of the production centered around Leigh, a fictional producer who exposed Hollywood’s grim realities through humor. She served as a mentor to Matt Remick, portrayed by Rogen. During his acceptance speech, 43-year-old Canadian actor and comedian Rogen paid homage to O’Hara, saying he was honored to accept the award on her behalf.

Rogen shared how deeply he respected and admired O’Hara’s work ethic. “I was asked to assume this very sad honor of accepting this award on O’Hara’s behalf,” he began. “O’Hara would have been honored by receiving this prestigious accolade from our collective community of performers whom she held in such high regard.”

Rogen continued, “She admired and appreciated the talent of each of you. Her greatness lay not only in her performances but also in her unyielding generosity and kindness,” he said. “I’ve found it remarkable that O’Hara possessed a singular ability to be generous and kind while never diminishing her own abilities or contributions.”

Rogen’s emotional speech served as both an ode to the late star’s talent and a heartfelt plea for viewers to engage with O’Hara’s work, emphasizing its importance and relevance in today’s entertainment landscape.
