WASHINGTON (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on all parties involved in Gaza’s conflict to uphold the ceasefire in its entirety at a recent meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace.
Addressing the board, the prime minister emphasized that lasting stability required adherence not just to the ceasefire’s spirit but also its letter. He stressed, “For durable peace in Gaza, violations must stop.”
In a broader context, Sharif highlighted the pivotal role played by US President Donald Trump in mediating conflicts, praising him for what he described as constructive efforts that have helped prevent further escalation between Pakistan and India.
“President Trump’s intervention stopped the Pakistan-India war and saved thousands of precious lives,” the premier said. He added, “Trump’s effective shield prevented large-scale destruction, which is why I join world leaders in his first meeting with the Gaza Board of Peace.”
Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause, stating that Palestinians must be granted their full and legitimate rights to a homeland. For him, the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state was essential for sustainable peace.
“The creation of a free and sovereign Palestinian state is indispensable for durable peace,” he said. “We urge the international community to act in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.”
The prime minister described this moment as potentially “golden” for Middle Eastern peace efforts, contingent upon meaningful steps that ensure justice and stability.
